On 4 November 2026, we updated our privacy policy for a new requirement of the Australian Privacy Act. We handle personal information in line with the Act.
The new requirement
From 10 December 2026, privacy policies under the Act must explain when a computer program, using personal information, makes or informs decisions that could significantly affect a person's rights or interests. The policy must describe the kinds of personal information the program uses and the kinds of decisions involved.
The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) explains the requirement in its guidance for organisations.
What our policy now describes
Our licensing systems decide automatically whether SIDRA INTERSECTION activates and runs on a computer, and whether updates are available, based on the licence held. The policy lists the personal information used in this decision: name, email address, organisation, licence and account details, COVER or Subscription status, IP address, and device identifiers, such as a hardware identifier and, for older licences, the computer name.
We have also updated the related item in Your rights. You can ask for a person to review a decision made by a computer program about you. To ask about a decision or request a review, use our Privacy Form.
What does not change
This update describes how our licensing systems already work. It does not change your SIDRA INTERSECTION licences or COVER.
