Dr Rahmi Akçelik
The success of our products has been built on reputation and career-long achievements of Dr Rahmi Akçelik, who is the company director and author of SIDRA INTERSECTION and SIDRA TRIP.
As a result of Dr Akçelik's lifelong contribution to his field, motorists around the world have benefited from the practical application of his research. He has gone the extra mile in training and advising thousands of Australian and international traffic systems professionals.
Mark Besley
Mark Besley is a scientist and software specialist who has worked in the traffic management area. He has been making a significant contribution to the development of the SIDRA INTERSECTION software in collaboration with Dr Rahmi Akçelik since the 1980s. Mr Besley is also a Director of SIDRA SOLUTIONS.

Improving the health of our environment
Environmental benefits: Our software packages are used by traffic engineers and transport planners to provide efficient traffic movements in the transport system. Efficient traffic movement minimises delay, energy use and air pollution, and is achieved through measures that prevent unnecessary queuing and traffic congestion. Small improvements to network performance that can be achieved add up to large economic and community benefits worldwide.
Our research and development efforts place special emphasis on modelling of fuel consumption and emissions for more accurate transport solutions towards an improved environment.
Green product design and delivery: We provide download-only software via our eCommerce which is delivered and stored permanently online in the customers’ account, so there is no need to produce DVDs.
Sharing knowledge with our community
We are actively involved in our industry and community in the following ways:
- We do our own research and develop our own methodologies to help our customers to solve emerging problems – these findings are published on our website and regularly presented at conferences around the world.
- We sponsor awards such as the undergraduate prize at the Conference of Australian Institutes of Transport Research (CAITR) and the SIDRA SOLUTIONS Postgraduate Award.

SIDRA SOLUTIONS CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF INNOVATION AND SERVICE TO OUR INDUSTRY
In 2019, we are celebrating 20 years as SIDRA SOLUTIONS, a company which strives to introduce innovation for the benefit of traffic engineering and transport planning professionals around the globe.
Our flagship software, SIDRA INTERSECTION, has been continually developed for over 40 years. We have aimed to incorporate the latest research results and most recent technologies available, and to introduce new features to cover a wider range of problems in response to feedback from practising traffic engineers and planners.
We have been privileged with the support given to us as a transport software developer by professionals who are keen on applying a scientific approach to analysing and finding technical solutions to the traffic problems with significant economic, social and environmental costs that are facing our communities.
