The INTRODUCTION TO SIDRA online training program is offered for people with little or no knowledge of SIDRA. This program will focus on how to use SIDRA INTERSECTION.

This program has been prepared by Dr Rahmi Akçelik and Mark Besley, the developers of the SIDRA INTERSECTION software.

Key Focus

This training will focus on how to use SIDRA, teaching the basic aspects of the software including general features of the user interface, input data entry and a reasonable level of output familiarity. The INTRODUCTION TO SIDRA program combines hands-on sessions and instructions to teach participants how to use the SIDRA INTERSECTION software through many examples.

General Information

Please read the following important information about our training programs.

Available Modules and listed on the Upcoming Events page.

We use Eventbrite for registration and these pages include information on pricing, currency, time zone and payment. Different registration information for Australian and Overseas customers, depending on the region for the event, is given in the Eventbrite page.

We recommend you register for all Modules.

Module 1 is a good start for those who have not used SIDRA INTERSECTION before. It is also suitable for attendance by those with limited interest in learning about what SIDRA does and how it works. We have designed this program so you may choose to attend Module 1 now and Modules 2 and 3 at a later date.

Separate Registration for each Module

Separate registration is required for each Module. For instance, if you would like to attend both Module 1 and Module 2, you are required to register for each of these two Modules separately.

Units and displays in presentations and SIDRA project files will be configured according to region. These are based on:

  • SIDRA Standard Left software setup using Left-Hand traffic rule and Metric units.
  • SIDRA Standard Right software setup using Right-Hand traffic rule and Metric units.
  • SIDRA US HCM software setup using Right-hand traffic rule and US Customary units.

  • You will be sent training books (PDF format) before the training.
  • The training will be in English.
  • We recommend that you watch these tutorial videos before the training.

At the end of your Module, we will ask you to complete and submit a Training Evaluation Survey so we can get feedback on your experience. The information and feedback you provide is valuable for us in designing and improving our programs.

After completion of training, we will send you a Certificate of Completion.

By registering for this training, you are agreeing to the following conditions:

  • Any form of recording is prohibited. This includes both video and audio.
  • Only the registered attendee may attend. If you wish to transfer your position to someone else in your organisation, prior notice must be given (at least 48 hours prior to the event).
  • We do not offer refunds; however you may transfer your registration to a colleague within the same organisation as explained above.
  • You have read these important Setup Requirements and agree that they can be met.

Ticket fees are non-refundable. Another delegate may be substituted for the same training Module free of charge. Please contact us about delegate substitution in advance.

Transfer between training Modules is not allowed.

Understanding fundamental concepts and principles for effective intersection and network modelling

"A good understanding of traffic operations is essential for effective use of traffic models for intersection and network design, performance assessment and transport planning purposes. Model calibration is an important element of this process. SIDRA Training is not just about intersection and network analysis, but aims to improve general understanding of operational analysis of all traffic facilities."

Testimonials

Here are some positive comments from delegates who have attended our training.

This course was very well organized and smoothly executed. The hands-on learning aspect gave me a good basic understanding of the software. I had no experience with SIDRA going in and I feel confident that I can now get into the software and apply it to help in the design process.

Becky Conn
Civil Engineer, TCPW

This training course has provided me with a series of excellent real world examples which have developed practical skills in traffic modelling.

Louis Todd
TEIOT, TfNSW

I was quite impressed with the wide variety of inputs and functions that SIDRA has and how easy it was to pick up - I found myself shooting ahead in the examples by the second module, as I had picked up a feel for how the software works. It was significantly easier to use than other modelling software I have experienced in the past and I'm excited to use it more.
