Successful functions to launch SIDRA TRIP were held in Melbourne in November
and Sydney in February. The software is now available for purchase.
SIDRA TRIP is a unique single-trip microsimulation model for assessing travel level of service, performance (delay, speed, travel time), operating cost, user cost, fuel consumption, vehicle emissions and noise in real-life road networks.
We sent free
SIDRA TRIP Trial Version CD packages to all SIDRA INTERSECTION users who
have current COVER. If you have used the software, please let us know
your comments to help us with planning further development of this software.

SIDRA INTERSECTION Version 3.2 Service Pack 2 was released in February 2008. All SIDRA INTERSECTION Version 3.2.1 users should apply this. Version 3.2.0 users can also apply this service pack directly without applying the Version 3.2.1 service pack first.
This service pack will NOT update Version 3.1 to Version 3.2 which is a major upgrade. All users with valid COVER at the time of its release received a free upgrade to Version 3.2. Upgrade from Version 3.1 to Version 3.2 is now subject to an upgrade licence fee.
If you are using Version 3.1, we recommend that you upgrade to Version 3.2 without delay since upgrades from Version 3.1 will no longer be available as soon as Version 4 is released (see the section on SIDRA INTERSECTION Version 4). If you wish to upgrade to Version 3.2, please refer to our Order and Prices pages.
Substantial progress has been achieved towards Version 4. There are still major tasks before the release of this version, which is currently scheduled for around October 2008. New features will include the following:
API (Application Programming Interface) for users to interface other
programs to SIDRA INTERSECTION. Initially, API access for Volume data input
will be provided to allow multiple volume data sets to be processed in batch
processing mode. Options for direct interfacing to output will also be
provided.
Method to analyse roundabouts with metering signals (for information on
roundabout metering signals, see the papers available on our
Downloads page).
Design Life method enhancements to provide user options for design life
analysis targets, and allow use of different growth rates for individual
movements.
Numerous changes
to input dialogs, including new parameters for various model enhancements.
Important improvements to the user interface.
Numerous enhancements to outputs including new output windows.
User Guide and Help system enhancements.
New licensing method that will allow users to deactivate and activate
directly.
We are currently planning developments after Version 4.
Upgrades when Version 4 is released
When Version 4 is released:
Version
3.2 users with valid COVER at the time of release will receive a free
licence update for Version 4 use
a major upgrade fee will apply to Version 3.2 users who do not have current
COVER at that time, and
upgrades from Version 3.1 will no longer be
available and users of Version 3.1 and earlier versions will need to purchase a new licence.
Therefore we recommend that all users upgrade to the latest Version 3.2, and keep their COVER current, in order to avoid upgrade and new licence costs.
The use of SIDRA INTERSECTION software around the world
continued to increase. The number of SIDRA INTERSECTION software licences issued to date is now over 2400 sites in 89 countries.
The largest user groups (approximate numbers) are in USA and Canada (over
1000), Australia and New Zealand (600), South Africa (160), Malaysia & Singapore (over 100), Arabian Peninsula (50), and Spain
(40), Norway, Slovenia and Italy (30 and over).
