SIDRA INTERSECTION Version 3.1 Update

SIDRA INTERSECTION Version 3.1 Update pack is now available for download from:

SIDRA INTERSECTION 3.1 is the first update to SIDRA 3. This new version includes significant enhancements and resolves a number of problems found with Version 3.0. All SIDRA INTERSECTION Version 3.0 users should apply this update pack. Refer to the above web page for detailed list of changes and the installation method.

Users with valid COVER will receive a free-of-charge SIDRA INTERSECTION 3.1 CD. When you receive the CD, place it in the SIDRA INTERSECTION case sent to you previously with the version 3.0 CD (the Serial Number on the case is valid for Version 3.1). More detailed instructions will be included in a letter being sent with the Version 3.1 CD.

TRAINING WORKSHOPS

Akcelik & Associates will conduct the following Beginner-level and Intermediate-level SIDRA INTERSECTION Training workshops in Australia during 2007:

Melbourne, 13-16 March 2007
Brisbane, 27-30 March 2007

During 2006, SIDRA INTERSECTION training workshops were held in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, Australia, Auckland and Hamilton, New Zealand, Calgary, AB and Vancouver, BC, Canada, Seattle, WA, Los Angeles, CA, and Salem, VA, USA. A total of over 550 delegates attended these workshops.

Since July 2000, we ran over 60 training workshops with 1500 delegates attending.
In evaluation of these courses, the trainees rated various aspects of the training courses and the SIDRA INTERSECTION software package very highly.

SIDRA INTERSECTION Version 4

We have started the development work towards the next version of SIDRA INTERSECTION as we are committed to on-going development of the software to make it a more and more powerful tool for our users. Two new programmers joined us to accelerate our development efforts.

We recommend that you keep your COVER up to date to avoid costly upgrade fees, and at the same time enjoy technical support.

SIDRA TRIP Version 1

The development of SIDRA TRIP has progressed with improved facilities for the import of GPS data. We are working on further features, and this single-trip microscopic simulation package for travel assessment is now expected to be released during 2007. We will inform you about its availability.

Akcelik & Associates Review of Activities 2006

A paper presenting a summary of activities undertaken by Akcelik and Associates during 2006 is available for download. These activities include software development, software training, research on roundabout metering signals, conferences and other activities.

Research on Roundabout Metering Signals

Akcelik and Associates was commissioned by VicRoads (the state transport agency of Victoria, Australia) to conduct major research into the operational characteristics of roundabouts with metering signals. The objective is to improve current analytical techniques to reliably assess the performance of roundabouts with metering signals, and calibrate and validate these techniques for incorporation into the SIDRA INTERSECTION software. The research involved collection of extensive traffic data at five roundabout sites. The research started in July 2006 and completed during December 2006. The results of research will be published in due course.

SIDRA INTERSECTION User Status

The use of SIDRA INTERSECTION around the world continued to increase. The number of SIDRA INTERSECTION software licences issued to date is now over 2200 sites in 87 countries. The largest user groups are in USA, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada, Malaysia, Spain and Norway.
