New Major Version SIDRA INTERSECTION 3.2

SIDRA INTERSECTION Version 3.2 was released recently.  This is a major new version (not a minor update).  This new version incorporates new Input Report, Customised Model and Project Backup features, and significant enhancements to modelling, output, user interface, help system, and layout picture.  It also resolves various problems found by users, and includes an updated User Guide (now 500 pages).

New features and enhancements introduced in Version 3.2 are summarised in our web page SIDRA INTERSECTION 3.2.

Users with Valid COVER

Free upgrade CDs were sent to all users who had valid COVER at the time of release (end of July 2007).  The CDs were mailed on 2 Aug 07.  Please allow delivery time before you send query messages.

When received, the new CD should be kept in the orange CD case supplied previously, as the Licence Type, Serial Number and User ID remain the same. The User Guide which is supplied on the CD includes installation instructions in Part 2.

To install Version 3.2, insert the SIDRA INTERSECTION 3.2 CD into your CD-ROM drive, and select the Install option in the Setup Menu that will appear. The new version will remove Version 3.1 automatically, and recognize your previous registration details, so the registration and activation processes will not be required.

Upgrades

For a limited period of time (until 30 November 2007), other SIDRA INTERSECTION Version 3.1 users will be given the opportunity to purchase COVER which will entitle them to a free Version 3.2 upgrade.

After this offer expires (from 1 December 2007), a major upgrade fee (significantly higher cost than COVER renewal) will apply for Version 3.1 users to upgrade to Version 3.2.

Version 2.1 users are recommended to upgrade to Version 3.2 with COVER without delay.   From 1 December 2007, upgrades from Version 2.1 to Version 3.2 will no longer be available, and users of Version 2.1 will need to buy a new licence.  We offer a 10 per cent discount to Version 2.1 users for software upgrade to Version 3.2 during this period.

Version 2.1 users should also note that, from 1 October 2007, all support (including assistance with registration or activation) for Version 2.1 will cease. 

We are now working towards Version 4. When this is released, a major upgrade fee will apply to Version 3.2 users who do not have current COVER at that time, and upgrades from Version 3.1 will no longer be available. Users of Version 3.1 and earlier versions will need to purchase a new licence.

Training Workshops

The following SIDRA INTERSECTION training workshops are available in Australia and New Zealand during 2007: 

During this year, SIDRA INTERSECTION training workshops have been held in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth, Australia, Takapuna, New Zealand, and Halifax, NS, Canada.  A total of 250 delegates attended these workshops.  Workshops are being organised by our representative in the USA for several State DOTs. 

Since July 2000, we ran over 100 training workshops with over 1700 delegates attending. 
In evaluation of these courses, the trainees rated various aspects of the training courses and the SIDRA INTERSECTION software package very highly. See Training Evaluation.

SIDRA INTERSECTION Version 4

We are progressing with the development of Version 4.  This version will include  roundabout metering signals, and multiple and variable traffic signal sequence analysis features, as well as several other major traffic model features.  We'll inform you about other features in due course. 

We recommend that you keep your COVER up to date to avoid costly upgrade fees, and at the same time enjoy technical support.

SIDRA TRIP Version 1

The development of SIDRA TRIP is near completion.  We have improved all aspects of the software significantly, including input, output, defaults and options, simulation and animation.  The software now allows a wider variety of formats for importing GPS data, and provides a diagnostics facility for unreliable data points.  Traffic noise model has been added with fixed and relative receptor points.

SIDRA INTERSECTION User Status

The new SIDRA INTERSECTION software which operates in full Windows environment was released about a year ago, and this new software has been highly successful (see User Comments).  Its use around the world increased significantly during the year.  Many large organisations including major State DOTs in the USA obtained multi-site licences.

The number of SIDRA INTERSECTION software licences issued to date is now over 2300 sites in 87 countries. The largest user groups are in USA, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada, Malaysia, Spain, Norway, Slovenia and Italy.   See User Status.
