The developers of SIDRA INTERSECTION and SIDRA TRIP, Dr Rahmi Akçelik and Mr Mark Besley, conducted many training workshops and seminars in many countries around the world.
Rahmi Akçelik, who is the author of the SIDRA INTERSECTION is a leading scientist in the area of traffic management with over 280 technical publications in his area of expertise. He is an Honorary Associate in the Department of Civil Engineering of Monash University. Dr Akçelik served as member of the US Transportation Research Board (TRB) Committees on Highway Capacity and Quality of Service (HCQS), and Traffic Signal Systems. He is currently a member of the HCQS Signalized Intersections and Unsignalised Intersections Subcommittees. Awards received by Dr Akçelik include the 1986 Institute of Transportation Engineers Transportation Energy and Environmental Award, the 1999 Clunies Ross National Science and Technology award, and the 2008 Institution of Transportation Engineers Australia & New Zealand Section Contribution to the Transportation Profession Award. Mark Besley is a scientist and software specialist who has worked in the traffic management area since 1980s. He has been making a significant contribution to the development of the SIDRA INTERSECTION software in collaboration with Dr Rahmi Akçelik over a long period. Mark has been involved in many aspects of research on traffic operations including incident detection, traffic network models, fuel consumption estimation, traffic data collection and analysis.
USA and Region
Riad Akileh (Context Sensitive Solutions Inc.) is an experienced SIDRA INTERSECTION trainer. He has conducted many successful training courses in the USA and region since 2005. These include workshops for CALTRANS, New York State DOT, New Mexico DOT, Virginia DOT, Louisiana DOT, British Columbia Ministry of Transportation, and Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Works & Transport.
Context Sensitive Solutions Inc. is accredited by Akcelik and Associates Pty Ltd for running SIDRA INTERSECTION training workshops in the USA and region. Context Sensitive Solutions Inc. works with, and is supported by Akcelik & Associates, in organising these training workshops.
New Zealand
Axel Wilke and Warren Lloyd Axel (ViaStrada) have conducted many successful SIDRA INTERSECTION training workshops in new Zealand since 2006.
Axel Wilke has conducted many SIDRA INTERSECTION peer reviews throughout New Zealand. Warren Lloyd has used SIDRA INTERSECTION for numerous intersection upgrade projects in Tauranga, Christchurch and elsewhere. Between them, they have accumulated over 25 years of SIDRA experience.
ViaStrada is accredited by Akcelik and Associates Pty Ltd for running SIDRA INTERSECTION training workshops in New Zealand. ViaStarada works with, and is supported by Akcelik & Associates, in organising these training workshops.
