Workshop Summary

Workshop Information

The SIDRA MODEL FUNDAMENTALS workshop is offered for SIDRA INTERSECTION users with all levels of experience including those who want to learn SIDRA INTERSECTION for the first time. It will be of benefit to traffic and transport professionals and students interested in the essential concepts of traffic modelling and principles of traffic analysis.

The workshop will focus on traffic variables, concepts and principles that need to be understood for effective intersection and network modelling from a practical perspective using an analytical software tool such as SIDRA INTERSECTION. These traffic variables are of importance in preparing input, interpreting output, and calibrating the model for best representation of real-life traffic conditions.

The workshop does not involve use of computers. Hand-held calculators will be used in various exercises.

Read our About Workshops page for more general information.

Keen interest to learn intersection and network modelling fundamentals.

Workshop Objectives

Upon completion of the MODEL FUNDAMENTALS Workshop, participants will gain a knowledge of fundamental traffic variables, concepts and principles used in the SIDRA INTERSECTION software for intersection and network analysis.

This one-day MODEL FUNDAMENTALS Workshop provides a lecture-style learning opportunity accompanied by exercises.

A good understanding of traffic operations at intersections is essential for effective use of traffic models for intersection and network design and evaluation purposes. Model calibration is an important element of this process. The SIDRA INTERSECTION workshops are not just about intersection and network analysis, but aim to improve general understanding of operational analysis of all traffic facilities.

The purpose of this workshop is to teach basic elements of the SIDRA INTERSECTION traffic model as a preliminary workshop to attend before participating in SIDRA SOLUTIONS training workshops. The workshop is also useful for those who want to learn about fundamental traffic variables, concepts and principles involved in intersection and network analysis.

The MODEL FUNDAMENTALS Workshop is recommended for SIDRA INTERSECTION users with all levels of experience.
